Women Deserve World’s Attention for all the Sacrifices Made – Joycelyn Tetteh

A special appeal has been made by the Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Joycelyn Tetteh, on behalf of women especially those at the local level who have to overcome a myriad of challenges to keep the society alive.

She is advocating for a more gender sensitive world of equal opportunities to be created for women to thrive in the society to compensate for all the sacrifices they have been making for mankind over the years.

According to her, as the world celebrates this year’s International Women’s Day, under the theme:” Breaking the Gender Bias”, the world should turn its attention to the challenges go through and help them to overcome them.

In a special message to celebrate the women in her constituency in South Dayi, to commemorate the International Women’s Day, Madam Joycelyn Tetteh wrote:

“On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I celebrate you the hardworking women of North Dayi. Without your sacrifices, this constituency and Ghana as a whole will not be where we currently are.

“On this day, I will like to draw attention to the numerous challenges that you women face in the area of culture, religion, politics, and the economy. I pray the world turns attention to these challenges and supports women to overcome them so we attain the gender equality we crave for.

“Once more, I congratulate and salute you, our gallant women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.”

The International Women’s Day which is celebrated every March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.
