The Deputy Majority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has officially apologized to the people of Keta and its environs over the use of a wrong image purporting to be activities of sand weaning in the area.<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a press conference with the media in Parliament on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, Mr. Afenyo- Markin said he was misled by the research document he relied on to address the media last Friday where he used the photograph. He has therefore apologized to the people of the area and his colleague Members of Parliament who are from the area.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the press last week, the Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Efutu, sought to blame the havoc caused by the storm surge along the coast line of Keta, Anloga and the Ketu South Municipality on activities of sand weaning in the communities. A comment, the people in the communities as well as their representatives in Parliament, have not taken kindly at all.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his presentation, he displayed a photograph of sand weaning activities involving heavy load trucks at a sea shore loading sand into their buckets with the caption, \u201cActivities of Sand Weaning in Keta\u201d. The image has since been proven not to be from Keta but rather from Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Stephen Amoah Also Apologizes to Ghanaians
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a related development, one of the Members of Parliament in the middle of a brawl that ensued between two MPs in the Ghanaian Parliament which nearly turned into a fight, has also apologized for his actions on the day.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, rendered an unqualified apology to the media and the general Ghanaian public for the scene created on that day which to him, should not have happened at all.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Member of Parliament and his colleague Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, were caught on camera in a heated argument amidst the trading of unprintable words between them.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their disagreement was over the use of a wrong image by the Majority Group in Parliament to describe sand weaning activities in Keta where a storm surge has caused a lot of damage to life and property.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed regret for allowing their anger to have the better of the two as honorable Members of Parliament.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two Members of Parliament have since patched up their differences and are working together cordially. However, the Mhyiaeso MP felt the need to apologize publicly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Stephen Amoah’s apology follows that of the Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin who used the wrong image in a press conference. He said he was misled by the research document he relied on for the address.
