Committee draws members from faith bodies, CHRAJ, TI-Ghana, Parliament, Diaspora and Civil Society<\/em>

Retired Supreme Court Justice, His Lordship William Atuguba<\/em>, has assumed duty as Chairman of the National Integrity Awards Committee<\/em>, with a broad-based membership drawn from faith bodies, traditional authorities, anti-corruption institutions, Parliament, civil society and the Ghanaian diaspora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made on July 27, 2026<\/em>, by the outgoing first chair of the committee, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am honored to have served as the first chair of the committee up to July 6, 2026. His Lordship Justice William Atuguba, Justice of the Supreme Court, retired, is now the chair of the committee. You couldn,t have brought in any person better. He deserves it,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broad National Representation<\/em>
The committee was established to provide \u201coverall strategic direction and oversight\u201d<\/em> to ensure the National Integrity Awards are administered with transparency, professionalism and fairness<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, the membership reflects \u201ca national level\u201d<\/em> representation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faith & Traditional<\/em>
National Chief Imam<\/em> – represented by Sheikh Shaibo and Dr. Muhammad Marzuk; Christian Council of Ghana<\/em> – represented by Rev. Dr. Bliss Divine Agbeko; National House of Chiefs<\/em> – represented by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II; Queen Mothers Platform Ghana<\/em> – represented by Nana Amponsah Dokua III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-Corruption & Governance<\/em>
Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)<\/em> – Commissioner Dr. Joseph Whittal; Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC)<\/em> – Executive Secretary Mrs. Beauty Emefa Narteh; Transparency International Ghana (TI-Ghana)<\/em> – Executive Director Mrs. Mary Awelana Addah; African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption<\/em> -Hon. \u201cDoctor Ata Kennedy is doing very well\u2026 even though he’s outside there he knows more about what happens in Ghana than Ghanaians in Ghana and he contributes on daily basis,\u201d<\/em> the outgoing chair noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rules, Website and Mandate<\/em>
The outgoing chair said the committee has \u201cdeveloped a very transparent and clear rules as to how to go about their duties\u201d<\/em> and has \u201ceven done a website and all this will put there for all of you to know.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause we’re talking about trusting people we are talking about integrity and we are talking about inspiring leadership by example we’ll say charity begins at home so that must begin from the committee,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged Parliament to support the process: \u201cPlease members let’s pass it before we go on recess the constitutional amendment on the issue of dual nationality\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that \u201cif this scheme is to succeed in its deeper purpose it must not be seen as a parliament project.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee noted that more persons \u201cworthy of our trust\u201d<\/em> may be co-opted \u201cas we go along.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
