Lariba Zuweira Abdul, Deputy Minister Designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection; Hon. Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, Deputy Minister Designate for Local Government and Rural Development; Hon. Amidu Ossahaku Chinnia, Deputy Minister Designate for Sanitation and Water Resources.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the group, they could not be part of the approval of the last four nominees since they did not take part in the vetting of the nominees. The Minority were away on a National tree planting exercise dubbed \u201cthe Greening Ghana Project\u201d with the consent of the Speaker.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moments before the House would adopt the report of the appointment committee of Parliament on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the Deputy Minority Leader, James Klutse Avedzi rose to his feet to inform the House that his side would not participate in the decision making because their side have been treated fairly by the Chairman of the Committee.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He referred to a paragraph in the report to back their decision which indicated that, \u201cThe Members of the Minority side on the Committee did not take part in the proceedings as they were away for the Tree Planting exercise in their various Constituencies as directed by the Rt. Hon Speaker.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later in a press conference addressed by the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini on behalf of the Minority Group after adjournment, to justify the Minority boycott.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the Minority feels disrespected by the decision of the Chairman of the Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu to continue with the vetting in the absence of the Minority when they were on an official duty sanctioned by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cOur decision is borne out of what we consider insincerity and disrespect on the part of the Majority. And therefore, the Minority can not take the whole nation for ransom for what they choose.
