The Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery,<\/strong> says fire officers who showed up in a taxi cab to put out fire in a village at Akyem Begoro deserve commendation for their innovation in spite of their difficult condition at the time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister explained that some very strenuous logistical inadequacies underlined the circumstances under which Fire Service Officers in Akyem Begoro travelled in a taxi with fire extinguishers to put out fire.
<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the Fire Service Officers went to the fire scene in a taxi cab because at the time of the incident, the station\u2019s water tender was temporarily out of commission.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe water tender was being worked on by the Eastern Region Maintenance team as a result of clutch failure,\u201d the Minister told Parliament in answer to a question on the Floor filed by the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwame Dafeamekpor.

He further explained that the seven-member crew which were dispatched to the fire scene in a taxi cab \u201cused four 6kg Dry Chemical Powder fire extinguishers and buckets of water from members in the community to douse the fire and to prevent it from further spread to adjoining buildings.\u201d
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
