Four NPP MPs File Motion to Investigate Death of Prez. Atta Mills after 10 years

Circumstances surrounding the death of Ghana’s third President of the Fourth Republic, former President John Evans Atta Mills, has begun to gain traction 10 years after his demise as some Members of Parliament have sought to revive the matter.

Four Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Majority side of the House, have filed a motion to request that parliament probes the death of the late former President who is of the fold of the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The four MPs led by the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh are requesting the House to constitute a bi-partisan Committee to unravel the circumstances under which Prof. Mills died on July 24, 2012.

The rest of the NPP MPs who filed the Private Members Motion include Second Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, Mpraeso MP, Davis Ansah Poku, and Tema Central MP, Hanson Yves Nii Noi Nortey.

“That, this Honourable House constitutes a bi-partisan Committee; To unravel the unending mystery surrounding the death of late President Mills which sad event occurred on 24th July, 2012,” the motion reads.

Meanwhile, the Former Communications Director President, Koku Anyidoho, has backed an inquest into the Former President’s demise. According to him, he has been severally accused of having a hand in the man he diligently served. He would therefore be happy the matter is resolved once and for all by the state.
