The Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobor in the Eastern Region, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey has assured his constituents of his commitment to the delivery of all the promises he made to them during the campaign period.
Just a little over six months after he annexed the seat as the representative of his people, the MP says he is bent on reaching his target of bringing total development to his people despite the odds.
According to him, he will continue to push hard for development for his people in the three and a half years before the next general elections in December 2024.
“I am assuring my constituents that the promises I made to them; the promise to represent them; the promise to carry all their problems for everybody to know that we as a constituency have been neglected when it comes to the sharing of national resources, these I will carry out.
“I also promised them that, all the things that I can do on my own I will do them. Already, I am trying to partner some oil companies. I have also made contacts with some embassies to assist me to launch an educational and apprenticeship programme,” he said.
The MP gave the assurances in an interview with some members of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) in Parliament. He was reacting to some answers provided to a question he filed in Parliament with respect to the construction of some roads in his constituency.
Mr. Nyakotey urged his constituents to continue praying for him as he has resolved to leave a lasting legacy in the constituency.
“I promised them that as I started by building the Apesewa School; as I started by partnering with Princes of Promise to build a modern school in Agogo; the bridges I am working on in Nyabeng; and all the things I am doing, is a manifestation of the legacy I want to leave for Yilo Krobor.
“I am still working with the IATA, which is the Indian Association of Traders. I am still working with them on the potential cassava processing and factory in Yilo. I need prayers from them; I need them to support me; and I promise that, by the time I come back to them to seek another term I would have delivered on my promise,” he said.
With regards to the answers provided to his question he said, “I would like to say that I am pleased with his responses. He considers the roads as roads which are very important and therefore, he is going to do the engineering works so that 2022, those roads would be constructed.
“I mentioned the importance of the Agogo market because Sikaben, Obualey, Agogo road leads to the Agogo market which is a major transit point for food supply to Accra, Ashaiman and Koforidua. And then Boti is a tourist destination, and a lot of our people have businesses which are linked. It is a source of livelihood to the people around Boti. I also recommended the Sikaben/Obualey bridge for construction.”
